Balu G Nair, Public Interest Fellow: Balu is P-PIL’s inaugural ‘Public Interest Fellow’. At P-PIL, Balu handles a number of public interest litigation and research projects. Prior to joining P-PIL, Balu has worked as an Associate with the Dispute Resolution practices of Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas, Bangalore, and AK Law Chambers, Chennai.  Apart from his interest for public law, Balu is also keenly interested in copyright law, and blogs for SpicyIP.

Abhay Jain, Student Public Interest Fellow (NLU, Orissa): Abhay has been associated with IDIA in different capacities since 2012. He was a member of IDIA’s IRAP Team where he was involved in the organisation of diversity surveys and was part of a team, which prepared a report on the inclusion and accessibility in National Law Universities across India. From July 2017, he started working as a P-PIL Student Fellow where he is involved in a number of public interest cases, particularly the CLAT PIL.

Abhay was also responsible for the establishment of the ‘Zenith Legal Services Clinic’ in Shivpuri, meant to cater to the legal needs of the marginalized communities. Recently, the initiative has been accredited by M.P. State Legal Services Authority and has been granted permission to collaborate with District Legal Services Authority in Shivpuri. His areas of interest include Environment Laws, Tribal Rights, Child Rights, Land Laws, and Access to Justice.

Divya Kumar Garg, Student Public Interest Fellow (NLSIU, Bangalore): Divya is a second year student at NLSIU, Bangalore. As the Student Public Interest Fellow at P-PIL, his work primarily revolves around CLAT reforms- he has played a key role in many petitions across the country against the conduct of CLAT 2018.
He became one of the youngest novelists in the country when he authored ‘LIFE @ The Race 2 IIT’ during his school days. He is an avid sudoku player and is often found solving sudokus on the back benches of NLS.
